To become a civil engineering technician, a student must pursue 12th in Science stream with Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects and must have valid score in any of the entrance examinations such as Delhi Common Entrance Test, Uttarakhand Joint Entrance Exam Polytechnics, WB-JEXPO etc. According to a report titled 'Real Estate and Construction Professionals in India by 2020' submitted by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, India needs approximately 4 million skilled civil engineers, architects and others by 2023.
